Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds: Crisis Opportunity One Elegant Solution.

Episode Summary

A short-term crisis can create the one elegant solution to solve a long-term problem. I know. It works.

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

This morning I came across a small, square, hot pink Post-it on which I had written “Never let a crisis go to waste!” a statement attributed to Rahm Emanuel, Winston Churchill and others. The notion is a simple one: a short-term crisis can create the opportunity to solve a long-term problem.

It’s a timely lesson for me to learn anew what good can come out of a crisis after I’ve had a chance to stomp around and make furious gestures. Yes, life is unfair and erratic. People can disappoint. This little piece of paper with its scribbled words reminds me to remain confident that a great wind is bearing me across the sky and if I so choose I will find the one elegant solution to the problem I am facing.

Perhaps this will work for you, too.
