Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds: Destiny.

Episode Summary

How is your destiny calling you home?

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

Living here on Whidbey one is very aware of salmon, our totem animal. Even in earlier days I watched the salmon make their way back through the Ballard Locks (a complex of shipping canal locks near Seattle), across Lake Washington, and up the Cedar River Watershed back to their spawning grounds to create the next generation before adding their bodies to the cycle of life and death.

I remember standing on the river bank, and in the clear water beneath me mere inches away from my reach their ruby red pulsing bodies marked time in the tide, readying for that last push home after living their adult life in the ocean, a destiny they couldn’t deny.

Question: How is your destiny calling you to leave your small river for the grand adventure of swimming out on the gathering tide?
