Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds: Erlinda Says, Horse Riders Prepare to Fall Down 7.

Episode Summary

If you want to be a rider of horses prepare to fall down 7.

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

My friend Erlinda has been riding horses since I met her in 1999. She’s a sight to behold maneuvering her horse through intricate patterns in horse shows.

And then there’s the cutting competitions in which Erlinda and her horse work together before judges to demonstrate the horse's agility and ability to cut a cow out of the herd and get it to a pen.

Erlinda says if you are interested in becoming a rider of horses you should be prepared to fall down 7 times.

Practice Tip: This unwritten riding rule applies to life, too. I know this much: be prepared to “fall down 7- get up 8" and whatever you’ve been dealing with should be well and truly gone.
