Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds - Fence Your Service Or Product To Distinguish From Everybody Else

Episode Summary

How do you distinguish your product or service from everybody else? Try a fence to niche.

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

Here on the island we have gardens of every size full of flowers and fresh vegetables. We also have a very large population of black-tailed deer. And those deer now have fawns. So the prudent gardener puts up a fence. What’s inside the fence is for the gardener and what’s outside the fence is for the deer.

How is this like distinguishing your service or product from the other person? It’s the same. You may offer authentic storytelling services to corporations or businesses, but so does Joe. Now, what’s different about you, what you offer, to whom you offer it, and how?  What distinguishes you from Joe? And all the other Joes out there? Once you can articulate that, put up your fence. Inside the fence is you and your service or product. Outside the fence is everybody else.
