Episode Notes

Hello to you, brother Steve, celebrating your Happy Birthday in Gaithersburg, Maryland!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

In his commencement speech to students graduating from the University of Texas Admiral William H. McRaven, (BJ '77, ninth commander of U.S. Special Operations Command, Texas Exes Life Member, and Distinguished Alumnus) said, assume as an average American you will meet 10,000 people in your lifetime. Assume further that if every 1 of you 8,000 graduating students changed the lives of just 10 people and each 1 of those folks changed the lives of another 10 people - then in 5 generations the class of 2014 will have changed the lives of 800 million people. Imagine that!

Often we get so mired in all the social media clamor for approval that we disregard how we might be shifting attitudes, behaviors and cultures by pursuing our purpose, influencing others we might never meet or know.

Practical Tip: Create your content. Offer your good work. Intend that you will shift lives to the better.
