Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: After 10 Minutes Memories Are Wiped Clean

Episode Summary

What if you had only 10 minutes to capture your memories?

Episode Notes

Hello to you listening in Longmont, Colorado!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday with questions carefully chosen to help you collect stories in the oral tradition or spark your own writing. Either way, you'll say, "Thanks for the memories."

A week ago seriously high winds and rain took out power for 24 hours. My computer was useless. Maybe like me you’ve watched in dismay as a power outage or other battery-powered hiccup caused your computer to shut down, work unsaved, no back-up. Now what? For the most part we let it go, do the work again or go searching for it in the cloud.

But now imagine that in 10 minutes’ time you would lose all your memories with the exception of those you capture right here, right now. What memories would you keep?

Story Prompt: Set the timer for 10 minutes and put down all the memories you want to hold on to in as much sensory detail as you can. When the 10 minutes are up, revisit the memories you chose to keep. What’s confirmed for you? What surprises you? Write that story!

Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something.   All that matters is you have a story.

This is the place to thrive together. Come for the stories - stay for the magic. Speaking of magic, I hope you’ll subscribe, follow, share a nice shout out on your social media or podcast channel of choice, including Android, and join us next time!
