Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds For Story Prompt Friday: Becoming a "How" Species.

Episode Summary

When a "when" species transforms into a "how" species what story will be told?

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday with questions carefully chosen to help you collect stories in the oral tradition or spark your own writing. Either way, you'll say, "Thanks for the memories."

We are a "when" species: When will we get there? When will my child be potty trained? When will vacation begin? When will I fall in love? When will we treat each other with kindness? And so on.

Here’s what I’m thinking: COVID is turning us into a “how” species. "When" is no longer working. But “how” is primed and ready for us. No matter where you look humans are figuring out *how* to connect, to relate, to pull it together, to spend a moment to look up at the stars on a dark night, to give one another a hand up, to go to sleep grateful for sleep, to rise up to our better selves.

Story Prompt: You are doing this right now. You are shifting your experience and growing from a "when" into a "how." Write that story!

Practical Tip: If you wish share your story with someone or something: your journal, your animal companion, the trees in the woods, your loved one, colleagues, master mind group.   All that matters is you stop carrying burdens and keep writing the stories.
