Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: Camino Truths Shaped a Trek.

Episode Summary

Whether on the Camino de Santiago or in life blisters and kindness shape our experience.

Episode Notes

Hello to you in Dundalk, Ireland!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday with questions carefully chosen to help you collect stories in the oral tradition or spark your own writing. Either way, you'll say, "Thanks for the memories."

There are two truths on the Camino de Santiago: you will get blisters and you will receive unexpected gifts of kindness. I suggest you experience both.

As to the blisters: wear proper boots, take care of your feet, change your socks, watch for red areas or hot spots and treat those before they become blisters. But at the end of the day you’ll get blisters; that’s just the way of long treks. Every single time I stepped off the path to check my feet I met another pilgrim and we could trade blister stories or treatments in our backpacks.

As to the gifts of kindness, they turned up in unexpected places whether a bottle of water, a small stall with fruit for free, directions from a villager, or encouraging words shared in a  time of uncertainty or doubt. Just like magic!

Story Prompt: What ups and downs have you experienced that shaped your life walk? Write that story!

Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something.   All that matters is you have a story.

This is the place to thrive together. Come for the stories - stay for the magic.  Speaking of magic, I hope you’ll subscribe, share a nice shout out on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time!
