Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds For Story Prompt Friday: Changing the Script.

Episode Summary

What if you changed the script, re-told the story, felt a lot better?

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday with questions carefully chosen to help you collect stories in the oral tradition or spark your own writing. Either way, you'll say, "Thanks for the memories."

Sometimes things happen to us that are not our fault - at least not entirely. But they hurt us nonetheless. And having experienced some of those episodes I’ve been wondering about my reactions, whether they were healthy or not.

Practical Tip: Here’s something I’ve tried: telling the story of what happened to me - and feeling the sadness. Then changing the perspective, looking in from the outside and re-telling the story as if this was a moment that could teach me. How does that feel? Empathy for myself and for those involved. We were all working off a script. I can change the script and my attachment to the original story.

Story Prompt: What script are you ready to change? Write that story.

Practical Tip: If you wish share your story with someone or something: your journal, your animal companion, the trees in the woods, your loved one, colleagues, master mind group.   All that matters is you begin to change the script that no longer serves you.
