Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: If Only....

Episode Summary

How often have you wondered "If only...." A story prompt to help you make it so.

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday with questions carefully chosen to help you collect stories in the oral tradition or spark your own writing. Either way, you'll say, "Thanks for the memories."

Once there was a nurse in a long term care facility for people suffering from dementia. They often tried to leave looking to get back home again. The nurse saw that the clinical nature of the facility increased the confusion of already confused people. If only we had red curtains. Red cloth costs the same as grey. What if we had red curtains? Why not have red curtains?

From these 3 questions the nurse went on to establish a different facility: one that had the look and feel of home all the way down to the smells of food being prepared for the patients who lived there.

Story Prompt: Think of something you wish to solve. Ask yourself: If only.... What if..! Why not? Write that story!

Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something.   All that matters is you have a story.
