Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: Traveling This World and Anthony Bourdain.

Episode Summary

Travel changes you with faces, food and memories; what's your story?

Episode Notes

Hello to you in Johannesburg, South Africa!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday with questions carefully chosen to help you collect stories in the oral tradition or spark your own writing. Either way, you'll say, "Thanks for the memories."

Many of you have shared in my stories about walking the Camino de Santiago - 5 weeks, 500 miles - and the profound change it created in me.

How does that change happen? Anthony Bourdain said it well: "So many of the good times traveling this world relate directly to finding a human face to associate with your destination, the food you eat, and the memories you’ll keep with you forever. The best times are when it’s impossible to be cynical about anything. When you find yourself letting go of the past, and your preconceptions; you feel yourself and your basic nature, the snarkiness and suspicion, the irony and doubt, disappear, at least for a time. And then, for a few moments or a few hours, you change.” [Anthony Bourdain - World Travel - An Irreverent Guide (2020)]

Story Prompt: Where and how have you traveled and been changed? Write that story!

Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something.   All that matters is you have a story.

This is the place to thrive together.
