Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds For Story Prompt Friday: Why Are We Given All This Life?

Episode Summary

Play the hand you are dealt & remember how far you've come.

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday with questions carefully chosen to help you collect stories in the oral tradition or spark your own writing. Either way, you'll say, "Thanks for the memories."

Shirley Valentine is a lovely British movie about a housewife from Liverpool looking for a change from what feels like a trap of domestic obligation - like others who have woken up one morning to find their life isn't what they thought it would be.

In a moment of poignant reverie Shirley asks, “Why are we given all this life?” I believe it’s a two-fold answer: (1) to play the hand we’re dealt no matter what, and (2) to remember how far we’ve come.

Story Prompt: Find yourself a quiet place to sit with your eyes closed and linger on the life you’ve lived remembering how far you’ve come. Write that story.

Practical Tip: If you wish share your story with someone or something: your journal, your animal companion, the trees in the woods, your loved one, colleagues, master mind group. All that matters is you play the hand you are dealt and remember how far you've come.

This is the place to thrive together. Come for the stories - stay for the magic.  Speaking of magic, would you share a nice rating/review on Apple Podcasts and when you come back bring your friends and rellies.
