Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday: Pilgrim, It’s a Long Way to Find Out Who You Are.

Episode Summary

How is Life calling you to be who you are?

Episode Notes

Hello to you listening in Castrojeriz, Spain

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

Every year at this time I retrace my Camino de Santiago pilgrimage steps, day by day, reading my journal, absorbing the memories.

Along the Way you are often asked: how come you are walking? In the beginning I said finding myself or healing old stuff. But it never rang true. Rather, I was called. That was true. There was no more denying that call than stopping my own heartbeat.

But called for what? There were days I felt like I missed the spiritual boat. There were days I felt like I made a poor pilgrim. There were days I asked for answers and heard only silence in the wind.

Now I know. As the song goes, “Pilgrim, it’s a long way to find out who you are.” [Pilgrim by Enya ]

The Camino asked only that I walk, be the walking, and be the road that lead to me.

Question: How have you been called to find out who you are?
