Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds For Time Out Tuesday: A Creative Appointment to Doodle.

Episode Summary

Make a creative appointment: time out to doodle.

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

The poet Mary Oliver wrote, "I think we're creative all day long. But, we have to have an appointment to have that work out on the page. Because the creative part of us gets tired of waiting, or just gets tired."

Study upon study shows that the creative act of doodling benefits the brains of adults, helping with memory retention, improved focus, stress relief, creativity and more.

Where am I going with this? Mo Willems (the Kennedy Center Artist-in-Residence at Home) has a YouTube series called Lunch Doodles where you can sit with paper and crayons or markers and doodle to your heart’s content.

Practical tip: Make a creative appointment to take time out to just doodle.  Click the link to connect: Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems.
