Episode Notes

Hello to you in Tampines New Town, Singapore

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

We all face stressful situations ranging from minor annoyances like traffic jams to more serious worries, such as a grave illness. When your body responds to stress your heart pounds, your breath speeds up, your muscles tense. One healthy way to reduce stress is by invoking a relaxation response through the regular practice of Yoga (Nadine Kelly YOGA MD), Tai Chi, or Qigong.

These three ancient arts combine rhythmic breathing with a series of postures or flowing movements. The benefits? Mental focus helps distract you from Monkey Mind while the movements enhance your flexibility and balance. Check with your doctor before starting them.

Begin with a few minutes a day to reduce stress as you build your practice to 20 minutes or longer each session. This practice will help you live in good health.
