Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday: Cuckoo Echoes Universal Desire to Be Seen and Heard.

Episode Summary

Our universal desire is to be seen and heard. How can we help?

Episode Notes

Hello! to you in Dubuque, Iowa

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

I’ve been a long time subscriber to Nature 365 TV. Earlier in April I enjoyed this 55 seconds recording of a Common Cuckoo in France. (Click here to hear more).

It’s mating season. And all this bird wants is to be noticed. It’s saying, “Hello! Are you out there? Do you hear me?

The cuckoo is echoing our universal desire to be seen and heard. No one desires to be ignored, unseen, unheard.

So what can we do?

Practical Tip: As we go through our day let’s think of all the many transactions at the bank, library, post office, gas station, super market, bus stop, on the road, on the sidewalk, and so on where we might encounter another human being. Make eye contact, lift your expressive eyebrows, and offer a smile. Yes! even with our COVID masks in place we can smile and say, “I see you!”
