Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds For Time Out Tuesday: David Ignatow and Leaves Falling.

Episode Summary

To whom are we beautiful?

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

The poet David Ignatow wrote about death with contemplation as much to know about death as to calm his underlying fears and recognize his part in the significance of living and dying. Standing by a window of an autumn day and watching leaves fall, he wrote:

"I wish I understood the beauty

                                            in leaves falling.

                                           To whom are we beautiful

                                          as we go?"        [David Ignatow]

Question: To whom might we be beautiful as we go? And who is beautiful to us?
