Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday: Life Will Nudge Us Back to Our True Selves.

Episode Summary

Are you looking for Life in all the wrong places?

Episode Notes

Hello to you in Jerusalem, Israel!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

One of my favorite Nasrudin stories is about the night his friends find him on his hands and knees under a street lamp. They ask what he’s doing and he replies that he dropped the keys to his house. His friends begin to help him look and this goes on for some time yet no one finds the keys. Finally, someone asks, Nasrudin, are you sure this is where you dropped them?  Oh no, Nasrudin replies, I dropped them on the other side of the road, but it was too dark to see; so I came over here where the light is better...

Sometimes that’s how it goes with my Life, looking for it in all the wrong places. But my Life is patient; it nudges me in the right direction back to my true self.

Practical Tip: We begin by remembering that our true selves came here open and curious, whole and wonderful. Our challenge is not looking to become someone else but recalling who we already are.
