Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday: Naps Are Not Just for Babies.

Episode Summary

Research shows that short naps do you a world of good.

Episode Notes

Hello to you in Yaroslavl Oblast, Russia!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

Decades ago I worked with a pediatrician who was still practicing very skillfully in his 80th year. What was his secret? A short walk from the office to home to enjoy lunch with his wife, a short walk back to the office and a 20 minute nap on the exam table before seeing that afternoon’s patients.

It’s true! Don’t take my word for it. Research has shown that my pediatrician knew what he was doing. A little  afternoon snooze (say 20 to 30 minutes) can help you:

feel rested,

improve memory and verbal fluency,

perform better on cognitive tasks,

lower stress, and

improve mood.

Practical Tip: Try it out for 30 days or your money back.
