60 Seconds For Time Out Tuesday: Porch Swing Meditation

Episode Summary

Don't think. Don't Do. Just rock and enjoy.

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that. This is the place to thrive together. Come for the stories - stay for the magic.

I remember one New Jersey summer Sunday rocking on a porch swing with my dad. We were visiting the tiny brick row house where he and his siblings had been born and raised. I asked him what he was smiling about. Rocking, he said. I’m enjoying the rocking.

Remember being a child and you got to swing on a swing, rock on a porch glider, rest in a hammock. Subtle movement, back and forth. I’m sure there’s a part of us that remembers being awash in salty water, floating along as mom moved.

Practical Tip: Find yourself a swing, a hammock, a porch glider, a still body of water. Settle in. Do nothing. Think nothing. Enjoy everything.
