Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday: Waste an Hour and Save a Year.

Episode Summary

Take a regular time out. You'll gain more than the hour you spend.

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

Once a week on Lazy Monday I’m supposed to step outside to amble, to clear my mind, to consider big dreams and ideas. I’ve been lax in this practice and have resolved to begin anew to keep my Lazy Monday promise to myself.

It’s even more important today with all the news alerts, pinging, texting and so on. The incessant chatter makes it almost impossible to daydream, problem-solve or create unless I choose to take the time out to do so.

Practical Tip: Take a regular time out and let your mind run free. You’ll gain more than the hour you spend. As Amos Tversky reminds us, “You waste years by not being able to waste hours.” [Amos Tversky, psychologist
