Episode Notes

Hello to you in Lisbon, Spain!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

You might be feeling anxious or stressed about yesterday or tomorrow, but you don’t have to cooperate so enthusiastically with the process. We can - little by little - lessen the effects of concerns on our minds and our bodies. When we regularly practice paying attention to the present by noticing when our mind wanders off and coming back to our breath we can rest and settle our minds.

Here are 3 easy steps for mindfulness meditation:

  1. Settle in to a quiet space, sitting comfortably upright with your palms on your thighs
  2. Close your eyes, taking a deep breath, and relax feeling the rise and fall of your chest. Notice your breath naturally flowing in and out, cool as it enters, and warm as it leaves.
  3. Your thoughts will come and go. Gently allow them to drift by like clouds in the sky.

10 minutes a day will give you noticeable results. The more you practice the longer you will be able to sit mindfully
