Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey: An Experiment.

Episode Summary

Welcome to Wednesdays on Whidbey: An Experiment in Shared Discovery.

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

4 years ago I drove away - with deliberation and intention - from a place I had lived for the better part of 20 years, as well as a litigation consulting practice of national proportions, and set my sights some 1,300 miles distant - the Pacific Northwest. This part of the country wasn’t my idea but that of a fellow I knew and loved decades before who suddenly reappeared, held out his hand, and then unexpectedly dropped dead of a heart attack while stacking firewood. By that time I had 3 kitties in carriers, a few worldly possessions stuffed in the car top carrier, household goods in storage, and no idea what I would find when I arrived.

In time - and after driving yet another 3,000 miles around the western half of the Great State of Washington - I would find my way to Whidbey Island and claim it as home.

This island is as unique and varied as the people, the weather, the trials and tribulations, the flora and fauna one finds here. It’s my intention to share it with you and see how this experiment goes.  I hope you join me.
