Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey: Snow Days!

Episode Summary

Something there is that loves a snow day!

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

Something there is that loves a snow day. Maybe it’s in our childhood DNA: no school, a transformed neighborhood, time to play, freedom from the usual routines.

Over the weekend we had 3 snowfalls: the first was a teaser, the second was a robust sequel of some 8 inches, and the third was a quieter finale. Soon it will be gone: the peace, tranquility, blanketed landscape will be a memory.

Why are these times so key to our health? Because, like the children we are we still cherish the pause, freedom from routines, a bit of a weather escape that shows up maybe once a year - arriving quietly - on little cat feet - and then disappears.

This is the place to thrive together.
