Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds: Inviting The Story That Wants To Be Told.

Episode Summary

How does one create a story in 60 Seconds?

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

I’ve been asked: How does one create a story or message in 60 Seconds?

It’s listening for the story that wants to be told or heard. The best storytellers are a conduit for the story they share. The story you share is actually you discovering what the story wants to say through you. You listen. You set it down so others may hear what you heard.

60 Seconds provides me the opportunity to find out who I am, who I want to be, and where I’m going now that my eyes are older. Like the song says, "I can see clearly now." [Johnny Nash] Or, at least better than I did when I was younger because I’m taking the time to listen and consider. I’m working on stepping back and allowing what I have to share be that which you listen to.

Question: How does it work for you? Finding the stories that want to be told?
