Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds Knowledge Is Power But Imagination Is Our True North

Episode Summary

Knowledge defines what we know but imagination is our True North compass heading to what we have to discover and create. How do we broaden imagination?

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

English novelist J.G. Ballard said this about imagination. "I believe in the power of the imagination to remake the world, to release the truth within us, to hold back the night, to transcend death, to charm motorways, to ingratiate ourselves with birds, to enlist the confidences of madmen."

Knowledge is power but imagination is where the true value lies. Yes, knowledge defines what we know and understand in this moment but imagination is the True North compass heading to all we have yet to discover and create.

How do you broaden imagination? Reading. Reading  broadens our imagination by stimulating the right side of our brain. Reading literally opens our minds to new possibilities and new ideas helping us experience the world through others' lives. Imagine what reading does for children.

So many worlds to remake, so many truths to release; how is imagination kicking open your Creativity Doors and what are you discovering on the other side?

This is the place to thrive together. Come for the stories - stay for the magic.
