Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds: Letting Go To Be Found Creative.

Episode Summary

Fierce questions: What if creativity was not something to control but to let go of? Who am I when I've lost my creative way?

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

How often do you struggle with creativity by trying to force it into this or that form? Maybe we expect that creativity comes with control and when we feel out of control we look for a course, a class, a workshop, a textbook, a technique.

What if what we seek is actually in the letting go?  What if when we feel creatively lost we are not seeking a strategy but the permission to feel profoundly lost and longing for our deepest self - as if we might be found at the bottom of a deep well? What if you are being asked to face up to the fiercer aspects of the question: who am I when my creative fire has cooled? Who am I when I’ve lost my creative way?

Practical tip: Stand still. You must let it find you.
