Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds: Like A Monarch Butterfly A Whole New You.

Episode Summary

The Monarch butterfly spins a silk mat for the chrysalis stage; it has the look of jade with golden beads - like a rare pendant - and then it's off into the world! Question: How are you like a Monarch butterfly-to-be?

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

My honeybee wrangler and friend, Janet Andrews, of Backyard Bees sets out large glass jars with a branch and milkweed leaves inside to invite the caterpillar that will become the Monarch butterfly.

The Monarch larva spins a silk mat from which it hangs upside down, a stage called a chrysalis. When complete the silk looks like jade with beads of gold.

Question: How are you like a Monarch butterfly-to-be?
