Episode Summary

Each of us is only temporarily able-bodied so do what you can, while you can, with what you have!

Episode Notes

Hello to you in Mexico City, Mexico!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

Growing up my family had a tradition to set a pair of shoes outside our bedroom door before we went to sleep on the night of December 5th so when we woke up on December 6th - the Feast of St. Nicholas - we would see what little treasure was left in our shoes as a reminder of Christmas yet to come, and to prepare.

I know Christmas is a ways off yet for those who celebrate it. But a memory of this family tradition put me in mind of a story about a man who complained about having no running shoes until he met a man who had no feet.

Shoes or no shoes, each of us is only temporarily able-bodied. And it’s up to us to do what we can with what we have while we are able. If you can run, run! If you can't run, walk; if you can't walk, move; and if you can't move, live in such a way that moves others.
