Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds: Nothing Knows How Old You Are.

Episode Summary

If you want it, find a way to get it.

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

For years I had a small scrap of paper thumbtacked to the wall in my closet. It was a photo of Dara Torres, the oldest swimmer ever to win an Olympic medal; in fact, during her swimming career spanning five Olympic Games, Dara Torres won 12 Olympic medals.

Torres was a 41 year old mother when she won 3 silver medals in the 2008 Games. When asked about her “advanced age” she replied, “The water doesn’t know how old you are.”

That scrap of paper is long gone but I remember this: Nothing knows how old you are.  If you want it you’ll find your way.
