Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds Put Down The Smart Phone and Nobody Gets Hurt

Episode Summary

Put it down. Look around. What's there? Notice your happiness, your delight.

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

I remember walking in Dana Point Harbor passing a young woman pushing a baby stroller one-handed while the other maneuvered her smart phone. The child in the stroller clutched her own device in chubby hands & called out, “Mom! Mom!

All around us were boats bobbing, fish jumping, waves crashing, clouds scudding, sun shining, gulls squawking, pelicans diving, black capped night herons rail dancing, a coronation of terns swooping, harbor seals splashing, sea lions barking, sail boats skimming, palm trees swaying, salt air breezes blowing, dogs nosing, and music playing.

How about we put down the smart phone and nobody gets hurt. Look up and around. There are no duplicates in nature. Notice your happiness, your delight.
