Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds: Stand. Deliver. Receive the Applause.

Episode Summary

Learn to stand and receive the applause.

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

Over the years I’ve learned that one of the most difficult aspects of teaching platform skills or public speaking - whether a story, a speech, a keynote - is accepting the applause.

When we willingly accept the applause, we are reminded that others see us through generous eyes. Applause says:  "Well done!"  "Bravo!" "You earned this!" For maybe just letting your little light shine.

Practical tip: When you begin claim the space from which you will speak, inhabit it, deliver your talk and, when it’s over stand there receiving the applause. Your story was a gift to the listeners and they are returning the gift to you.

Stand. Deliver. Receive the applause.

This is the place to thrive together. Come for the stories - stay for the magic.  Speaking of magic, would you share a nice rating/review on Apple Podcasts and when you come back bring your friends and rellies.
