Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds: We Have No Clue Who Our Work Helps - Only Trust That It Does.

Episode Summary

We do our work, we ship our work, we trust our work helps even those we don't know, can't see.

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

It’s fall and time for school. I enrolled in Seth Godin’s The Marketing Seminar. These WORKshops are like drinking from a fire hydrant. You learn a great deal and should expect to get drenched.

I was getting to know my cohorts online who were commenting on an exercise involving a box of crayons when Lauren  recognized me from a Seth Godin workshop a year ago where I’d written a story about being humiliated as a school child because I didn’t color like the rest of the kids.

She wrote: Hi @dianewyzga, it was your story in SS1 about the box of crayons that prompted me to go and buy a fresh set for my daughter and use all the colours in the box! I also introduced a “no rules for colouring” rule from that point onwards.

Question: Why is this important? Why should you care? Because, we do the work, we ship the work, and yet we can never know the full range of those we touch. We have no clue about the overall good that we do, only trust to keep us going.

This is the place to thrive together.
