Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds: When Have You Been Cheeky?

Episode Summary

There comes a time when we know what we know!

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

I remember the school homework assignment: write a story for English class. I did. Here’s my story: “Once upon a time long ago and far away they all lived happily every after. The end.”

Problem was my teacher didn’t see it that way. “Miss Wyzga, you didn’t understand the assignment.” And from out of my very deep knowing came this rather cheeky reply: “Yes. I did. You didn’t understand my answer.

Needless to say I ended up where all back-talking girls find themselves more often than not: in the principal’s office. But something had shifted. I realized that they didn’t know everything and, more importantly, I did know something -  about me!

Question: When has your bold, daring, unexpected response surprised you?
