Stories From Women Who Walk

60 Seconds: Your Very Own Board Of Advisors.

Episode Summary

Believe it. You really do know how to find your way out.

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

I’ve been thinking about my story friend Lorraine of late. Why? Because I’m in a quandary. When Lorraine was in a quandary about her solopreneur branding business she would call a meeting of the board of advisors. At each place around her kitchen table was a tent card with the designation of CEO, COO, CFO, Marketing, and Client Development. Lorraine would move from chair to chair assuming the role of the position on the tent card. In that role she would ask questions and offer ideas. Each of those different selves would give her invaluable input. At the end of the board meeting Lorraine had a way out of the quandary.

You see, the best advice often comes from inside us rather than outside us. We probably know ourselves better than anyone else does. Of course there are times to seek advice from outside ourselves. This exercise is not about those times.

Practical Tip: When you find yourself in a quandary, try Lorraine’s exercise to gain perspective and discover how much you really do know about finding your own way out.
