Stories From Women Who Walk

Diane-On-Mic: My Sticks Got Pinched On Camino de Santiago

Episode Summary

Sometimes you have to let go to get what you need even if you don't know what that is.

Episode Notes

Coming to you from Whidbey Island Washington, this is Stories From Women Who Walk a uniquely forward-looking, story-based podcast for anyone charmed by and curious about the power of story to profoundly and positively shift our awareness, our behavior, even our culture as well as those who wish to learn more about the power of walking to reveal the world around us and within us. Like magic, the sorcery of stories is this: they help each of us to be seen and heard, to understand and be understood.

When you walk the Camino de Santiago de Compostela you are well advised to bring along a pair of trekking poles - or sticks. They help a great deal navigating the muddy, rocky, slippery, downhill slopes, pulling yourself up steep equally rocky, muddy, mountain passes and just something to lean on to admire a view.

Mine were red and shiny with black grips and adjusted for my height. I knew them and they knew me.  I’d had them for years since a purchase in Canada before hiking the Canadian Rockies. Needless to say they were clearly identifiable and I was attached to them.

This is my story....
